Fairy Party the Sequel

Trinity turns 7 on Monday and she too wanted to do it in the fairiest of ways.  Celebrating with her friends we recreated our February Fairy party we had for Sadie with a few changes.

Instead of wands we made bottle cap necklaces
The yellow one has no glaze the green does.

Rainbow Cupcakes

We are bringing desert to Grandma's tomorrow to celebrate Easter. I picked up a yummy looking turtle pie, but didn't think the kids would be thrilled so I decided to try out this cute cupcake idea. I believe I will be making it for Trinity's fairy 7th birthday, but maybe with green icing.

Simply adorable! I wish I could say this is my idea but I saw it in Family Fun. They used sour gummy worms for their rainbow. I used the twissler easter colored ones, I had picked up for the kids baskets.

The baskets are hidden, the eggs are filled and all that is left to do is celebrate Jesus has Risen!

Bunny Bandits

My little bunny bandits had fun, making and delivering love filled baskets to their unsuspecting special targets!  A friendly fun twist to ding dong ditching!  We had so much fun, this has to be a new tradition!

I wonder what the neighbors thought?

Proud

This weekend, Brendan ran in Pat's Run. It was a first for us, and next year I think we will all participate from running to walking..it was a great time cheering Brendan on.   We got up early 4:30 ish and 6 of us where out the door by 5:15. I had the girls, sleep in their comfy clothes, so all we did was put on flip flops and head out the door, didn't even brush their hair, no vanity at 4:30am.  I had prepacked some breakfast foods, to eat on the sidelines.  Brendan finished in the top 10%!! Whooohoo!!! Very proud of my boy who didn't shy from the challenge even when his friends didn't follow through.

It was a great event and I loved how the family came together. I think we may have a new tradition!

Pictureka

I enjoy playing games with the kids and keeping the TV turned off! Pictureka was a new game for us. Not only did we have fun as a family, as it is flexible in nature to use with all age groups. My 3 yr old can play with our 14 year old. I also added Pictureka to my Ipod, for grown up outings to keep the kids entertained, love it!
Another way I've enjoyed using this game is to teach my small groups at school.  I used it for a kindergarten group, to practice listening and staying on task.  I also used it for my 5th grade study skills group, as an activity when we discussed the pressure of test taking and other people finishing first.

"Real" games are a fun way to entertain your family inexpensively and can be used to teach a variety of life skills: social, sportsmanship, money to name a few. Unfortunately in my observation, video games tend to have the opposite effect.    What are your favorite board games?
