Chloe has a cute little shirt, "So many Cupcakes, so little time." That is how I feel, so many ideas, crafts..so little time! November has been an off month for me, with being away and then a cold. I finally feel like me!
Today while I was catching up, the girls and I made bread! It turned out yummy and was a great activity as there was something all of them could do.
Here is the simple recipe we found!
3.5 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1 tsp salt
1 package regular or quick active dry yeast
1/2 cup very warm water
1/2 cup very warm milk
1 egg
Butter.
1. Mix 2 cups of the flour, sugar, shortening, salt andyeast. Add warm water, warm milk and egg. Beat with electric mixer on low for 1 minute, stir in remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.
2. Turn dough on lightly floured surfae. Knead 5minutes or until smooth. Place in greased bowl, cover and rise in warm place about 1 hour. Dough should double. Dough is ready when indentation remains when touched.
3. Grease bottoms and sides of pans
+we just used a cookie sheet and placed them close to each other.
4. Punch dough down. Shape into balls. Place close together. Brush with melted butter. Cover and let rise in warm place 30 mins. Bake at 400 for 12-18 minutes. 14 minutes worked for us.
This evening, we had our first marshmellow fight! The jellybeans didn't know what to make of mom throwing marshmellows at them. Their first thought was to eat them, but then the war raged! Arizona's version of a snowball fight. After the jellybeans mellowed Teagan and I worked on making a blanket. Popular a few years back, but I never think warm, cuddly and cute go out of style. Teagan enjoyed making it, and all the girls want one now.
Enjoying the Simple Things! ~ DeAnn
